Man, what a fun night - i saw Bright eyes at the Hollywood Bowl, and sat next to Liz. I was laughing to myself cause i meant to listen to a lot of Bright Eyes yesterday, Friday, to get exicted about the show tonight. But i ended up listening to Liz Phair all day instead. How wicked to see her at the show. Nice gig, Bright eyes with the LA Philharmonic, with M. Ward and Yo La Tengo.

Oooops - i don't think i was clear. I don't know of Liz doing any work with B.E. or any one else. Liz was just a happy fan at the show. She was in the audience enjoying it all, as was I. She looked beautiful, and appeared to be having a great time. How could you not? It was Bright Eyes doing a full set with the band, backed by a 60 piece orchestra. Nate the keyboard player for Bright Eyes scored roughly 16 songs for full orchestra. M. Ward opened and was sublime, and Yo La Tengo played as well - also sounded great.

Yes, Liz Phair goes to shows like we all do! (although it certainly would have been cool if she played a tune with Conner, huh?)

Was Jesus( Dinko, er ... Dino) with her?? If Liz REALLY loves that guy, great! Live a long and beautiful life together, just PLEASE keep him out of her music! He cheeses up her sound to much.

Cool, but too bad we didn't learn anything particularly interesting about Liz in the process.

After all, it's been a slow news year and a half.

Man, that must have been such a cool experience. I'd give quite a bit to be around Liz at a concert, even if I'm only a minor Bright Eyes fans.

What I'd like to know, and think the above comment gets at also, are things along the lines of: Did you talk to Liz? Tell her you were a fan? Your favorite albums/songs? Ask her when she's coming out with new music, touring? Ask her anything? Autograph? Say Hi? Did you overhear any interesting conversation? What was she wearing? An engagement ring? Has she shaved her head? You know, things about LIZ herself, not about Bright Eyes, etc. This is the Liz Phair message board, I believe.You're the closest degree of separation we have had to her in a long time, so if you were blind, mute, deaf and/or totally oblivious to her--as she sat next to you, that's fine. But if not, details please.

It's hard to believe someone that comes out with a rather fantastic tale when there are no details. But even if you believe the tale, the lack of information makes the story rather useless.

Got it - I just thought it was cool to let you all know that i saw her and she was happening, and it was cool. I hate invade her privacy too much, but i see some serious Liz fans jonsing for any tid bits of info. So let's see - She was STUNNING - i mean i have always thought Liz was beautiful, and i have even seen her many times, up close, but never in a dressing room or at a party. It has always been as a fan, so i see her in theatrical lighting, on stage, etc. I really had no idea how incredibly beautiful her face was. Just beautiful, and youthful, and smokin' hot. She was wearing long black boots and a skirt - gorgeous. She was sitting in a box with a girl friend of hers, i assume. I did not recognize her friend. I did indeed say hello to her - it was brief. I said "Hi Liz" she said hello back, and that was it. Is that lame? should i have bugged her more?

She was smoking a bowl - But see, this is the stuff that i don't know that she would appreciate. Liz, if you are reading this, and you are pissed that i said this, i am sorry - man, it's a tough call - respect the person that you love and admire, or give your RABID fans some tid bits to entertain them.

She had her legs up on the wooded barricade that defines the boxes in the Hollywood Bowl - she was relaxed and just digging the show, as was I.

But unfortunately that is all i have to say - didn't really bug her (except by writing this note) - didn't ask her about future plans. I just didn't think it was appropriate to bombarde her at a mellow event.

Sorry all - but i will probably see her again at some event in LA, and I'll ask her if i can write a bunch of stuff about her if/when i see her again.

Freddie, people have run into Liz lots of times and posted about their experiences. It's fun, it's always a positive thing, and I don't think there's ever been any info divulged that could have pissed her off. Everybody knows she used to smoke a lot of pot, so that's no big deal. It's just that nobody knew anything about what she was doing career-wise, so if any of us on here had run into her, you can bet we would've asked something like, "Hey, what's happening?" But you didn't know that; it's okay; no worries.

Liz, keep smoking those bowls and writing those chapters.

That's so cool of you to write. Thanks - i haven't done the message board thing before - i was just inspired to find some peeps out there that wanted to hear about how excited i was to see Liz in such a cool environment. If it happens again, i promise i will get some scoop!

I think she does look very, very youthful for her age--she hasn't seeemd to age much.
