This stuff is hilarious. I had no idea that Alec Baldwin used to be skinny. I remember the film as a kid and of course didn't understand it completely, it is one funny ride now though.
wooden and alone
yeah, it was a cute movie. i remember when they dance around the dining room table to some silly tribal song or something. catherine o' hara is hilarious and winona was so pretty and weird.
QuieroPhair
Do you mean the Harry Belafonte song "Day-O" lol laugh.gif
wooden and alone
i thought it was that hamimaweh song from lion king.
that scene was bizarre.
and
michael keaton scares me.

oh and if a thin alec turns you on, you should check out working girls.
cherry_queen
Yea you know that strange song or whatever that plays when they're all dancing?? Well I was in Pottery Barn one day and that song came on the radio. It was sooo weird. I was like holy crap where is that song from??!?! then it came to me. blink.gif

Beetlejuice is a favorite with my daughter.

She used to watch it over and over again. My wife made me bleep out the "Nice fucking tree" part because my wife thought my daughter was too young to hear that.

That was Winona Ryder before she became known as a kleptomaniac.
coolchick275
I don't think that I've ever seen the movie, but I used to freakin' LOVE the cartoon. It was one of my absolute favorites when I was little.
QuieroPhair
There is nothing wrong with being a kleptomaniac, it is a disorder afterall. I like Winona's freakiness.
trampolinefromspace
So what ever happened to Winona? I haven't seen her in anything recently.
QuieroPhair
She was in "A Scanner Darkly", that is the last film with her in it I have seen.
coolchick275
She was also in "The Darwin Awards", the last movie that Chris Penn made before he died. I know it played at festivals and stuff, but I don't know if it ever got a distribution deal or not.

QP, did you like "A Scanner Darkly"? I want to see it, but I don't know if my video store has it (so I'll probably just end up buying it off the internet).
wooden and alone
winona should get more work. hurts to see me that she's relegated to smaller films while other less deserving bitches can't stop making movies. hello kidman.
QuieroPhair
It's worth seeing. I, personally have not purchased it. I don't want to influence your decision, but why not check out your local second hand dvd shops or something. It was good and intelligent, but bong intelligent if you know what I mean.
wooden and alone
a scanner darkly is good. but it's kind of a cartoon so it didn't feed my winona hunger.
trampolinefromspace
I've actually been thinking about watching A Scanner Darkly. I thought that I've seen it in the local video store.

I saw copies tonight of Factory Girl. I'll try to rent that this week. I really didn't want to rent something tonight.

Well, that's an awesome idea but, unfortunately, my most "local" second hand dvd shop is 50 miles away. sad.gif

So, yeah, that's why I buy like everything off the internet.
wooden and alone
just download it. ::Evil::
coolchick275
I hate watching movies/TV on my computer. (I know, I make everything so difficult smile.gif)
wooden and alone
you can burn it into a dvd r
it's what i do

I was JUST thinking that haha! What a coincedence.
trampolinefromspace
I guess that I lost track of the actual line after it got erased.

Oh well.
QuieroPhair
Would your daughter be worse for the wear if she had heard the way fuck?
trampolinefromspace
My daughter says fuck all of the time.

"Nice fucking job mom!"

I don't know of a single parent (not one) that doesn't make mistakes with their kids.

You might think that after you have your first, then you'd have the thing down and you wouldn't make mistakes with your second. Wrong!

My younger brother is starting over and has a new child and my brother will be turning 49 in October. I'm sure that he'll be making some new mistakes, too.

You will NEVER, NEVER fully appreciate your parents until you actually become parents.

I know that becoming parents is the furthest thing from some of your minds and the sexual orientation makes the biology problematic (I hope no offense is taken here--this is just the reality of your situation).

Parenting is a difficult task--tougher than anything else you will ever do in your life.

A few years ago, my daughter said that she'd never have kids.

Right now, I'm not so sure that she would agree with her earlier assessment.

Things change.
LightYears
Hm QP wasn't saying he doesn't want kids. Just that if you don't, it wont be the most difficult thing in your life because it's obviously wont be part of your life.

I'm too selfish and unhomely to have kids.

Yeah that may be right, but my original point was somewhat of a generalization that would be applied to people in general. One of the things that I tried to do in my statement was to acknowledge the fact that having kids would be really difficult for some of you.

I suspect that a very small fraction of the gay males that contribute to this forum will ever have kids. This is based on people that I have worked with who were actually trying to have kids and were reproductively challenged.

A young straight couple that wants to have babies will find it easiest to make their own babies. This is because you don't need permission, you don't have to submit anything for approval, you just have kids. If you have fertility problems, this may not be an option. I worked with two people who were going through this back some 20 years ago. One of the two couples ended up adopting. The other couple did a lot of testing and in vitro and they eventually had kids naturally. Both couples endured a lot of problems in just having kids.

Things are much more incredibly difficult for a gay couple, especially males. Some of this goes towards prejudices that exist in our society. It may not be fair or right, but it's out there.

Of course, if you choose not to have kids, then you avoid this "difficult thing" altogether. Duh!

One of the points that I was trying to make was that people (particularly applies to younger people still in school, etc.) tend to start to think about what their life will be like once they get done with their education and they'll look at child rearing and other responsibilities and make statements about "I'm not going to do this" and "I'm not going to do that", but your situation in life will change and your attitudes in life will change. Not everything. I just find it funny that a lot of people use the word never and then end up changing their minds.

I personally think that Marci would eventually make a good mother, if that's either her choice or that becomes her reality (having kids sometimes becomes thrust upon you as it did for my wife and I). I'm not saying that not having kids is wrong--it's a choice and we should respect people's choices in life. However, our society has this problem that people who are more intelligent are not having kids at a high rate. More intelligent people need to be choosing to have kids.
QuieroPhair
I'm just going to have unprotected sex with a lot of women for a few weeks to make sure my seeds are sewn, and then I will probably adopt a kid, or not, I am really too young to think about it.

The funny thing is, I love children. I love babysitting, I love all my younger family members, I just really have not thought about having kids.
coolchick275
Hmm...having kids will never be "thrust upon" me. And if I accidentally get pregnant, that's what abortions are for.
we left yesterday
blink.gif ohmy.gif wow!! i'm all for a woman's choice and all, but don't you think that's a little harsh? hopefully you are kidding though.
coolchick275
If I have an unplanned pregnancy, then I would definitely get an abortion. Would I use abortion as my only method of birth control? Of course not, that's completely irresponsible. But if I ever get pregnant (because you know, accidents happen), I would get an abortion. Why should be forced to give birth to a baby when 1) I don't want it and 2) I never ever want to give birth?

that's not bad and perfectly reasonable. i though though you were saying that if you get pregnant by mistake you'll just abort it. like "ooops. i'm prgenant again. by accident. time to go and have the dern thing removed." which to me is an awful way to think. i'm all pro choice, but some people tend to abuse that choice and you sounded like one of those in the first post. the whoe "having kids will never be THRUST UPON me" thing i think is was did it. you made it sound like having a child was the worst thing a person could do. or at least that it how it came across. sorry about that.
phairphreak
What the difference really? Either way you are killing a life.
trampolinefromspace
My wife and I were using birth control when she came up pregnant.

That's what I meant about having parenthood thrust upon us.

My wife cried for about an hour when she heard that she was pregnant. She eventually changed her opinion about the situation.

My daughter is none too happy about this story. We did want her--it's just that the pregnancy with her was unplanned.

In the long run, I believe that this was supposed to happen.
wooden and alone
all this baby talk makes me hungry

"Oh, Brave New World, that has such people in it!"

It's actually pretty easy to talk about what you may or may not do in life and death situations, but sometimes things change when it actually happens to you.

While I defend a woman's right to decide what happens to her body, I also hold life as somewhat precious. I also believe that a major decision like this should not be made lightly.

I believe if you casually go into something like this, it has the potential for haunting you later in life.

This is not a simple situation with simple solutions. Make sure that you have a good support group to help you these situations.
