Ladytron - International Dateline
Woke up in the evening
To the sound of screaming
Through the walls it was bleeding
All over me
Untied and weightless
Unconscious as we cross
The international dateline
Let’s end it here
Grown tired of the show-coast
And then as we toast
There are all zeros
Around here
Untied and weightless
Unconscious as we cross
The international dateline
Let’s end it here
Let’s end it here
Let’s end it here
Let’s leave it here
Let’s leave it here
Woke up in the evening
To the sound of screaming
Through the walls it was bleeding
All over me
Untied and weightless
Unconscious as we cross
The international dateline
Let’s end it here
Let’s end it here
Let’s end it here
Let’s leave it here
Let’s leave it here

Cat Power - Bathysphere
When I was seven I told my mother,
To take me to the bay and put me on a ship.
Silver swordfish electric,
I can feel or dream down here.
If the water should cut my mind,
If the water should cut my life,
If the water should cut my mind,
Set me free,
I don't care,
I want to live in a bathysphere.
When I was seven my father said to me,
"But you can't swim."
And I've never dreamed of the sea again.
If the water should cut my life,
If the water should cut my line,
If the water should cut my mind,
Set me free,
I don't care,
I want to live in a bathysphere.

Endless Dream - Poe and Conjure One
You and I could dream
And I am just a trip you are on
When the trip is over
You will go back to the places that you once belonged
You will look for comfort there
And when you do you'll find that it has gone
That is when you'll dream a dream
Where I am you and you are me
And then you'll know my love

love that cat power song, red. it has that weird effect which i thought was kind of digital ruin. love that song. i'm currently in a daze listening to elliott smith. and this song is probably one of his sadder ones. this is the first track in his first album, i think.
elliott smith - roman candle
He played himself
Didn't need me to give him hell
He could be cool and cruel to you and me
Knew we'd put up with anything
I want to hurt him
I want to give him pain
I'm a roman candle
My head is full of flames
I'm hallucinating
Hallucinating
I hear you cry
Your tears are cheap
Wet hot red swollen cheeks
Fall alseep
I want to hurt him
I want to give him pain
I'm a roman candle
My head is full of flames
I want to hurt him
I want to hurt him
I want to hurt him
I want to give him pain
And make him feel this pretty burn

This is such a classic Liz Phair song. After she says "and I totaled my car", the riff she plays is reminscent of Jealousy and Supernova.
The lyrics are really good, as usual for that era of her career, I really like the mention of Henry (from Polyester Bride).
I've had this song for a while but haven't listened to it really until recently.

Do you really want to change her...
Or is it your right?
Ooh...alone in her chambers she dreams of her home
In a very real way...she's the purist art form
I bet she said...just how many art lovers can one
get to know?
She doesn't have an hour...
She doesn't have five minutes...
She's got to go!
She's got her bags packed...
And she's off to the valley where the
sun meets the sea
You understand that
She wants to live by the ocean...
And no one is pleased
She gets a house in the mountains...
The next day...
the next day she leaves the station

who loves bettie serveert? along with liz phair and pavement, they were one of matador's most treasured artists in the nineties. i love them. they're still making music and Carol van Dijk's voice is as smoky and emotional as ever. and brain tag is probably the best song in their catalog!

Sia - Breathe Me
Help, I have done it again
I have been here many times before
Hurt myself again today
And, the worst part is there's no-one else to blame
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Ouch I have lost myself again
Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found,
Yeah I think that I might break
I've lost myself again and I feel unsafe
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
Be my friend
Hold me, wrap me up
Unfold me
I am small
I'm needy
Warm me up
And breathe me
this song is just exquisite. but i can't listen to it without thinking of the series ending of six feet under, when they show all the deaths of the lead characters in the show. this brings me to tears, especially the last minute of orchestral climax.

Sheryl Crow - Perfect Lie
Burn like a cigarette
All inside my head
Reminding me not to forget
Words, words I'd never say
Things along the way
Their telling me that I'm the best
'Cause your face it doesn't look like it did
You give away everything now that you've hid
You, you want to be only
To never get lonely
So you opened up your arms and took me in
And this our last goodbye
And this is a perfect lie
Told by someone that I used to know back then
Help, help is on the way
That's what they all say
It's a thing that they don't know
'Cause I, I know everything
And maybe it's just a ring
But that won't make me let it go
Look at your face it doesn't look like it did
You give away everything now that your here
You, you want to be only
To never get lonely
So you opened up your arms and let me in
And this our last goodbye
And this is a perfect lie
Told by someone that I used to know back then
Look at your face doesn't look like it did
You hide your love
But your not willing now to give, willing now to give
You, you want to be only
To never get lonely
So you opened up your arms and let me in
And this our last goodbye
And this is a perfect lie
Told by someone that I used to know back then...
