since youtube exists and it's fuckin brilliant, i thought we have an album of the day thread, song of the day, artist of the day, we should have a video of the day because i surf youtube for hours on end.

mine, for today is,

Gemma Hayes - November (acoustic)
i love women who sing really well, then play guitar really well.. and who are quite pretty...
LightYears
Kylie Minogue - Confide In Me

Overall, the video should have been darker. But there's something kind of appropriate about the photo booth kind of pin-up images.

And I love all the phone booth caption bits - Which Madonna STOLE for her Confessions era tour.

there used to be this video on youtube of liz phair being interviewed at an amusement park, does anyone know what happened to it or where else I could watch it?
wooden and alone
it was the segment with tabitha soren. that was great. but viacom is suing youtube for having their videos. and i think mtv is owned by viacom or something.

If they don't sell the video I don't see why they should sue. I'll probably never see that video again, and I know it won't come out on dvd. If it did, I would gladly buy it, but come on do they really think that they can stop people from stealing videos and putting them up on youtube? They should stop fighting and find a way to work with it.
wooden and alone
nah, you'll see it again. someone probably saved it. don't worry. it's gonna be there again. hell, i'm searching for it now.

for now, check this classic pj harvey moment. this is one of my favorite songs of anyone. and pj singing it is just another good thing.

You have to look past his image. Yeah, it turns alot of people off, but they are denying themselves from hearing some of the most amazing instrumentals they will ever here. He is one of the greatest guitarists to ever walk the earth, and thats no exaggeration.

Listen to this small clip(not great quality but you can hear it)

Madagascar solo

What he just played there in that clip cant be played by anyone else. While its not his best solo, it gives you a glimpse of the depth of his talent. He played that solo 6 years ago, and after he left Guns N Roses, the solo is no longer in the song, because the other guitarists cant do it. GNR had to "dumb down" the song when he left.

Two more amazing Buckethead clips

Padmasana

Interworld & the New Innocence solo

is buckethead slash?

laugh.gif Slash couldn't even play like that in his dreams. Have you heard the Guns n Roses song Nightrain? Its on GNR's first album. The outro was always cool, but watch what Buckethead does with it. He kicks things up a notch.

I still like Slash more than Buckethead, for a couple reasons. I think a lot of the time Buckethead just plays quickly, and I feel like it lacks style much of the time. Sometimes it just sounds like guitar excersizes like he's putting on a speed clinic. I think Slash, though maybe not technically superior to Buckethead, certainly plays with style and really feels his music.

Basically I have a thing against all shredders.

those who like lucinda williams, emmylou harris and kathleen edwards, do check out angela desveaux.

I just about died watching this video. It's about iZombies that don't watch what they're doing while going around NYC listening to their iPods.

NYC to iPodestrians: Watch the F**K Out!

Please note: adult language content.

By the way, I apologize for it not being a music video, but it is music and safety related.

i thought there would be videos of people getting run over by trucks... dammit. i'm disappointed.

The "Buckethead is a freak who shreds" thing is a cliche. I'm on dialup, but when I'm at someone's house who has high speed, I'll upload the albums Electric Tears and Colma for you. There is no shredding on these albums. These two albums have some of the most beautiful instrumentals you will ever hear in your life.

I prefer his slower music to the shredding, but he does all types of things on guitar that no one else could do. On the GNR song 'Better', he does this thing that leads the transition into the metal jam, and nobody else could ever do that. Bumblefoot replaced him in GNR, and he wont even try to do it. Instead of that noise BH does, when GNR performs the song live, they pound the drums in that spot instead.

in reference to W&A's mulholland dr. post, one of the best scenes for me is when they're auditioning actresses, then "the girl" starts miming to linda scott's "i've told ev'ry little star" and naomi watts and justin theroux exchange glances. brilliant

I was going to give up on this after a few seconds, but I kept letting it run and it does kind of grow on you. It's got that disco beat, would probably be a cool song to dance to.

Good one, WHORE!

I remember watching this on tv at a friends house in the middle of the night. It was just so beautiful, and exactly what I needed at that time.

well, to stray from the genius of thom, let's go straight to avril, the muthafuckin princess.

avril lavigne - when you're gone
redlight
for once, she didn't sing flat.

the album's catchy fun but im not going to get it just now. more important things i want to buy.

i like track 7 a lot on that album, 'hot'.

the b-52's - debbie

great get-up-and-go song.

no matter how old they are, the two female singers, cindy wilson and kate pierson always sound fabulous.
