Lucinda Williamsshe's like. along the vein of Ryan Adams/Wilco. she's just awesome (when i'm in the mood.) perhaps similar to Aimee Mann/FIona APple, bc she cares about her lyrics, but more country-ish. smokes a lot of cigs, raw voice. I love her first 3 albums, didn't love her last two, Essence or World Without, kind of dragged
I'm praying this new one is good... : )

nah, lucinda wasn't. QP was referring to the pic coolchick posted. he has issues about louise powering through with the VS moniker. i kind of do too. but i liked their last album.
oh i like lucinda. her voice can be really affecting, although the essence album which is the only thing i've heard from her is kind of way too.. country for me. and i guess, i wasn't in the mood or prepared for that. i did like the title track and the song "blue". i think i should check out car wheels on a gravel road, since so many people think it's her best. nice choice, halli.
Artist of the Day for me is..

only because i'm listening to her latest album. ah her voice is a knock out. her music reminds me of french coffee house love affairs, very implosive.

This couldn't get any better,
she didn't get it so fuck her.
Blair, that "fuck" is perhaps the most brutal use of the word I have ever heard. I nearly flinch when I hear it. She sounds like a snake hissing and spitting poison on that track.
But I prefer Nina's subtler "ding-dong the witch is dead" on Black and Blonde.

was that from born entertainer, QP.
louise was such a bitch. when i listen to the most bile ridden songs in resolver, i just imagine it's someone else because when i think of lou bashing nina, i go into a i hate lou mode. nina just makes me want to root for her. my favorite moments in resolver are the slower ones like disconnected, which is so about dave grohl and how he left her for winona ryder.
lou pretty much apologized to nina though, in the latest album. the song is called salt flat epic.
and nina bashed dave in bones and a name.

I almost picked up the Retrospective album when I was over at Fry's. I was picking up a replacement wireless router for the house. The one that we have right now keeps dropping the wireless connection and I have to reboot the router.
I ended up not getting any albums.

Northern Lad
I feel like this song is so torn. It has the best most accessible qualities of Tori Amos: wry lyrics, interesting piano driven melodies, dour imagery and subject matter; but is also has the worst, namely long strained vocal interludes (which personally I love to "not bothered by"; but I am a fan afterall). So I feel like this could easily be a new fans favorite or just as easily least favorite song by her depending on their mood/taste/persistence.
Anyway, it seems like the least bogged down by electronic elements on the entire Choirgirl record. I especially love the line
"I had a northern lad,
well not exactly had."
Someone keep this song away from me if I ever break up with someone, it is one of those lamenting, we will all die and it seems so much closer tracks.
