Where was this released? I have this track but I don't think my copy is lossless.

What's the Red Light Fever demo? Is this the same as the version that leaked with Rapids and Tell Me I'm A Liar? I'm guessing not because I remember a lot of space before and after the song. Can anyone upload this? Also, does anyone have higher bitrate versions of Greased Lightning, Freak of Nature. I have the original versions of Why Can't I, Love/ Hate, and Take A Look.

I'm not sure about the Red Light Fever demo since I haven't heard it but that's what it is listed as on the Japanese version. I have original versions of Greased Lightning and Freak Of Nature. Are you saying that you have the version of Take A Look as it appears on MTV2 Spankin' New Music 2002 Edition!? Likewise are your original versions of Why Can't I and Love/Hate the promo versions?

I do have those. Take A Look is a slightly different mix, and the drums kick in earlier in the intro of Why Can't I. The vocals are totally different on Love/ Hate, and have different lyrics in spots.

There never was a studio cut of "See the Light." If you want, wooden and alone, you can PM me the track in question and I'll tell you from whence it came.
wooden and alone
maybe it was a live radio studio performance. because there are hardly no ambient noise, no audience noise and stuff. it sounds really clean.
here's the version

That is a live performance from fall 1994 on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Good to finally clear that up, after all these yeeeeeeeears.

omgwow

i'm shocked, startled and bewildered.
but seriously, it sounds like a studio version. anyway, it's the best version of the song.

4 of those 5 are among my personal favorites. If you don't have them, you NEED to get them. I don't have them on my computer, or I would hook you up.

I thought he had Erecting a Movie Star. IF not, I can rip it and send it to someone somewhere somehow sometime.

I HIGHLY recommend to everyone that they buy the CD: First Love, Last Rites. It's by far the best soundtrack I've ever heard (not counting Live Rust since that was a concert film). Actually, one of the best albums period. A classic. Guest vocals all over the place, and I think Liz's “Erecting” take is her best vocal ever. And I can’t stop thinking of Beavis and Butthead when I read/hear that first word in the title. Not to mention the bizarre karma of Liz singing a song not written by her with “erecting” in the title.

erecting a moviestar is a wicked song. liz's indiest moment. lol indiest.

I actually agree with you there. I kind of want to say it's tied with "Don't Have Time," though. "Six Dick Pimp," "Supernova." They were all done right around the time she was peaking vocally, in my esteemed opinion.

Funny thing is, I hardly ever think about "Erecting" or how great it is because the only copy I've ever had of it was cassette recording from a D.C. radio station broadcast that this girl recorded, and she sent a few copies to people who asked nicely on the internet. That was in the good old days, and I mean that in every sense of the word, it was the first new Liz we'd heard in a very long time, and I remember getting that cassette and feelin' groovy. I'll have to track down that soundtrack per your recommendation. Incidentally, the version I have on the cassette has a slightly different mix, but I only heard the one on the CD soundtrack once about 7 or 8 years ago so I can't remember exactly how it differed. Definitely a fantastic song.

Would love to hear that alternate take. The ooh-ooh's are great on the soundtrack version. Sexy Liz.

It's hard to explain the soundtrack because it touches on various genres of singer-songwritery stuff, but the songs are (mostly) timeless. Many of them you wouldn't know if it was from 1998 or 1948. The one song that I truly hate has Billy Corgan singing. I have my audio player skip that one. He ruins it for me. Guest vocals: Jeff Buckley, John Doe, Liz, Nina Persson (Cardigans), Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Matt Johnson (The The), Steven Bernstein (?), Angela McCluskey (The Wild Colonials--whoever they are), Lena Karlsson (Komeda?? Who?). Some sung by STT themselves. Consistently great, Corgan aside. Great songwriting.

The movie sucks, but it has a cool way of incorporating the music. Quoting some on-line reviewer "All of the songs have a strong retro feel, since the music is originating from an oldies radio station throughout the movie.”

I have some other Shudder to Think. Just read that they did the music for the movie High Art--with Radha Mitchell--which I'd coincidentally just rented. I'll have to pay attention.

Hear it, and get other STT info, here: http://mog.com/music/Shudder_To_Think

Yeah, I'd like to know what others think. Erecting isn't the best song--almost all of the others, Corgan aside, are as good or better. Not necessarily better given how diff. they are, but excellent.

Google for reviews of the album. It got raves. Being a soundtrack, it didn't the usual attention as a regular release.

Left off Russian Girl and Rapids, unless those were retitled. Haven't listened to Liz in quite awhile, but those are the two tracks I immediately noticed that weren't on the list.

I don't believe either of those tracks were released, the anthology is only for officially released tracks. If you know of a release with those tracks please let me know.

You're right. I was pretty stoned last night. Was thinking it was just a list of songs not on her albums.

Anyone have a list compiled of unreleased demos?

Well you can rip on I tunes or Windows Media by clicking import. As for sending it you can upload it to a site like sendspace or yousendit or email it to me. If you want to do the latter PM for my adress. Thank you
