Who else thinks this movie looks awful?
From the previews it appears to have hijacked and twisted the message of the original film. I've only seen the original once (and I liked it), so I'm not sure, but wasn't the main alien (the one played by Keanu Reeves) like peaceful and nice and, like, not menacing (I assume that's what Keanu was going for--he's not a great actor, so it's hard to tell).
Anyway, thoughts?

I actually kinda wanted to see this movie when I first read about it in EW. But, then I saw the "special extended trailer" during the series premiere of Fringe and thought, "Forget that, this movie looks fucking awful (and boring)."

Have you seen the original? I hear that Keanus character was really likeable in that one and not at all in the remake.

Yeah, I've seen the original, and yes, the character played by Keanu is, in the original, peaceful and kind.
You would know both those things if you had read my original post!

Having rewatched the original, I can report with conviction that the new version is, indeed, a travesty (judging by the trailers alone--like I'm going to subject myself to the torture of watching the remake).
