Hey guys, as you probably already heard Jeff Trott is working with Liz on her new album. I messaged him on MySpace and he said "I did four songs
with Liz Phair which should be coming out at the new year - she's a dream to work with."

I CAN'T WAIT!

Yeah, hoping his contribution will be a plus. Just read about him on his myspace page and he's worked not only with Sheryl but with Aimee Mann too. I think I may have
been a little hard on him in another thread, fearing his possible negative influence on Liz's new record, but after doing this small amount of research on him, I'm feeling alot more
positive about his role on the album. The guy has a recording studio in Manhattan Beach, Cali too, probably how he and Liz got together. Let's just get this album out Liz, I'm JONESIN' big time for some new Phair!! blink.gif

Liz and Jeff Trott have likely known each other for several years now. Liz contributed background vocals to "Soak up the Sun," which he co-wrote and co-produced.

I thought originally that Liz was producing the new album on her own. It's a good thing she's not I reckon. Don't get too worried that she's working with Jeff who's worked with Sheryl Crow, etc. If Liz told these producers that she wants this album raw - that's what they're going to do. Same goes with John Alagia too, if she's working with him again.

I think we're all gonna be very pleased with the new album. Then again, I've never disliked any of Liz's albums. It all comes down to storytelling and that's what she's done on all her records. Whether it's Brad Wood or The Matrix producing - she still rocks and I wouldn't care if she produced this next album with friggin' Max Martin or whoever.

Liz should do a country album... Haha!

Yeah, I think her choice of producers matters a little more to a large chunk of her fanbase than it does to you.

Yes, and how does that make you feel?
baudrillard
Not happy that Liz is working with the same team of producers.

I'm just happy Liz is coming out with something new! These last few years have been unbearable!

If there's anything wrong with this album production-wise, there's bullets with these producers names engraved on them. They better not give me an excuse to use them.

It all makes me wonder what led to the change with the album production process--did Liz freely choose this or did the label lean on her? From what she was saying this summer, it sounded like they must have had a pretty decent chunk of it done already. Then it's postponed, people brought in. Sounds like a major re-do.
