fucked up blair23
yeah, so i'm officially regurgitating musical artists. i need to hear new stuff. please limit to one link per post because some of us are still stuck in the land broadband forgot... for the time being anyway. so?

i'm bored anyway.

whut?

I would say this is against forum rules and that all these threads have been closed in the past, but it's not like there any many moderators trying to clean this place up.
fucked up blair23
you had to ruin it, huh....

cmon....
there are legal links everywhere.

ok then. a better life

try that one. there's over 16 more on that site if you wish to try more. i can't think of any other legal sites at the moment. sorry.

If you have not listened to Sigur Ros yet (which come on, you really should) you can catch Agaetis Byrjun and Svenf Englar for free from amazon.com

Free Sigur Ros Music

You can also check their official website for freebies.
fucked up blair23
i think i heard sigur ros from a cellphone commercial and i was so impressed, i tracked them down (i didn't know it was them initially) but i'm scared to get into them because as you know, i am a sucker for female vocals (although the vocals for SR sound vaguely feminine). maybe i'll download a song.

oh and wly, edie again? i'll get into it. but i haaaaate the eighties guitar sound. i played samples of ghost of a dog and it was there again. hmm. what's the most minimal edie brickell album? maybe i'll click with her if i hear the woman just accompanied by a guitar.

Jonsi sings almost exclusively in falsetto, so yes, the vocals are strangely androgynous.

I say go out and buy Agaetis Byrjun Blair, I doubt you would regret it.
fucked up blair23
i ain't gonna buy it.......

hah.

i'll listen to the allmusic samples.
QuieroPhair
I do not expect anything less coming from the soulseek fiend.

But quite frankly, you cannot grasp Sigur Ros without listening to their records. The songs are often over six minutes long; a 30 sec sample does not do the composition justice; especially when it is something as multifaceted as Olsen Olsen.

Allison Crowe is an independent artist who makes all of her songs available (for free) on her website. She writes her own songs, but she also does a lot of covers as well. The first 3 are (obviously) covers and the last 3 are originals. If you like piano driven music, then there's a good chance that you will like Allison.

it's the only one i know that is legal and in mp3 form. and nothing about her or the group ever had an 80's guitar sound. what does that mean anyway. they come from the same stock as r.e.m. and the cure and their back catalog is considered to be regarded as some of the best. anyway, the song i put up is nothing but her and a guitar. it was just released this past year. nothing 80's about it. if you want an album that isn't 80's though i recommend stranger things or her second solo record volcano. also her website has a lot of songs. you can try there too. i have not done the second phase/part of their career in the thread i made, but i will shortly. look for it as it will include lots of non-80's material with the band, by herself, with jerry garcia, and with the slip.

a man made of butterfat

Ah, Glosoli. The video is darling and well... levitating. It really lifts you up., Sigur Ros in top form really. All their videos are like that.

I love this verse:

I decided to forgive and forget
I thank god you're comatose
As I pull back the bedclothes
And I can't believe my composure
And I can't remember my anger

I think The Grotto is her most intimate record to date.

P.S. I always had a feeling that Kristin was the narrator in this song.
wooden and alone
maybe the narrator is taking care of her husband who is comatosed and she decides to take a walk outside and her spirit is lifted up.

new young pony club - get lucky

man, i love synth pop. i love synth! synth rock, it makes everything sound f-cking eighties and just so delicious. the new young pony club is set to drive any female fronted synth pop band out of the stage. they're armed with sex, sex, sex and danceable melodies (and sleazy synths).

I too have been a GnR fan through the years, kinda lost interest waiting a decade for Chinese Democracy. Thanks for the download! "Better" is a VERY catchy tune. If it's not a pain in the ass, any other Democracy shit you'd care to share???

Sure. Always happy to help out a fellow gunner. cool.gif You hadn't heard any of the Chinese Democracy songs? You are in for a treat. No guarantee that the album is coming out this year, although the GNR camp announced a few weeks ago that recording is finally finished, and the album is currently being mixed.

These demos are years old, although they surfaced last year. No one is sure exactly what year Better demo was recorded, although it was likely in the 2001-03 timeframe when Buckethead was still in the band. He is on Better, and he is also on I.R.S. and There Was A Time. The oldest demo is Catcher in the Rye from 1999(although it surfaced when these other three songs did). It has Brian May from Queen playing Lead guitar(he recorded for Axl in 1999), and it has Josh Freese on drums(he was in GNR in 1999). All these songs are great. Catcher in the Rye is a powerful song lyrically, although lacking a little bit musically. If CITR ends up being on the album, it has probably been remade completely. Axl has said he is unsure if it will get released, so this demo may be the only version us GNR fans ever get to here.

Catcher in the Rye, T.W.A.T., and I.R.S.

There are also live versions of some other Chinese Democracy songs. No demos of those yet, but I have some soundboard recordings of those songs. Pretty damn good quality. They're from the 2001, 02, and 06 shows. Songs are Chinese Democracy, The Blues, Riyadh and the Bedouins, Madagascar, and Silkworms. If you never heard those songs either, I'll upload those as well.

I'll upload those live songs when I get home from work. In the meantime, enjoy those demos. They're gonna blow you away. cool.gif

Since you've been "out of the loop" for so long, you probably haven't heard 'Cornshucker' either. Its a demo that leaked from the GNR Lies sessions. Its an acoustic song about anal sex. I'm surprised they didn't include it on Lies. It would have fit perfectly between Used to Love Her and You're Crazy. I'll upload that one tonight also.

Random tidbits I've uploaded in the last month that I'm not sure when they'll run out:

Hoochie Woman from the London Official Bootleg (With The Gospel Singers)

Official Bootlegs Mix of Beekeeper songs from different shows- Original Sinsuality, The Power Of Orange Knickers, Martha's Foolish Ginger, Ribbons Undone and Hoochie Woman. Hoochie Woman went a bit weird on this upload, so I re-ripped it and reloaded it (see above).

Live version of Zombie by the Cranberries. Maybe you guys have heard it. I have no idea where it came from but for some reason it seems like it came from MTV Unplugged, but I don't know. Were they ever even on MTV Unplugged?

Thanks for posting that. Yeah, it sounds like their Unplugged performance. I think they were on the show in late 1994.

so i downloaded all those tori songs. they do sound a lot better stripped down than on record. power of orange knickers was actually the track i most enjoyed. i hate that song on record. and hoochie woman still annoyed me though.
LightYears
I love the vocal growl in Orange Knickers over "Shame shameeee it's time to leave me now, Shame Shame you've had your fun... Shame Shame for letting me think... that I could be the oneeee....". There's so much grit on it, whilst the album version is very... pretty and overly vocally layered.
wooden and alone
it's great to hear the song without damien rice.
