Great show last night at the TLA on South Street in Philadelphia, PA! Liz is beautiful in her intellect, attitude, ability to express herself sonically and of course in appearance. Myself and my wife came early enough to snag a spot at the front of the stage which was great, this was our first Liz show. It's such a pleasure to witness Liz's prowess with music in person and watch her interact with the crowd, truly enjoying herself and the deserved adulation. As far as a setlist, it was straight into 6'1" and all the way to the end of Exile In Guyville, lot's of interesting moments including what may or may not have been a pre-planned duet (a lot of fun either way) with a fan allowed onstage. I loved a lengthy moment when the guitar player, the bass player (whose name Liz had forgotten!) and herself were concentrating on a shimmering slice of power sustain - electric nirvana!
At the end of EIG, Liz came back and talked of her upcoming album being currently worked on and did a couple of numbers possibly from that without the other musicians, the first one was awesome, I'd buy the CD just for that! The second number she sat at the keyboard for, then after that the others came back out for Polyester Bride, and I got my thrill when she made extended eye contact with me. At about 9:25 or so, the show ended and I thought it would have been great to go to at least 10:20 or so; she didn't come out til about 8:20, but other than that, everything was wonderful. Hopefully she comes back to do Philly again after the new cd drops and do a show with all the best from Whip-Smart, Whitechocolatespaceegg, the self titled, and the completely sinfully overlooked Somebody's Miracle (The critics are completely moronic on this one - I love almost all of this cd) in addition to the new material.
Here are 12 pics I was fortunate enough to snap: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=Liz+Phair+Philadelphia+show
