I was listening to "My Skin" by Natalie Merchant, which, to me, is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I especially love the instumental part at the end. When I listen to that song I like to sit back, close my eyes and just listen and let the music just kind of wash over me.
So, I was wondering, what are some of the songs that you guys consider to be "the most beautiful song(s) ever"?

The most beautiful?
That's really quite challenging. I'm going to respect the "ever" clause and only list one song.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, that’s a toughie.
Today I will go with Sarah’s “Plenty”.

Nov 16 2006, 03:04 PM
that is a toughie, but i would have to go with edie brickell and new bohemians' me by the sea and 10,000 angels. it's a tie, as i couldn't narrow it down to one out of those two. they both equally beautiful.

Right now, Tori Amos' "Gold Dust".

For me it would have to be......
Well for me beautiful would be mellon collie music that i would just lay back in my room in the dark look up at the ceiling and it makes me think until i start tearing from the eyes, so for me i guess the song would be "I Love You" by sarah. Thats the song that comes to mind, i mean trust me there's plenty, but this is the one.

if you decide to get mirrorball go with the newly released two disc complete concert version. it's far superior to the original one.

Don't Ever Change by Amy Rigby is the sweetest song I like, but as for beautiful... that is tougher.
Well currently being into Liz Phair, I'd probably pick something like Hurricane Cindy, Perfect World, or Beginnning to See the Light (of those Cindy is my favorite).
But then again I don't want to forget Martha Wainwright, who I used to be really into (and I still really like her music, I just don't listen to it much). She had some really pretty stuff like These Flowers and Laurel & Hardy...
A lot of the songs I think are pretty really aren't. Overall I'm undecided.

http://www.myspace.com/julianahatfieldi just saw that. amazon does have it. wish i hadn't seen it though. the track listing sucks and it's got me bummed about the cd. neccesito is not a juliana hatfield song and i would rather had seen another song on there. like don't let me down. it relies to heavily on her 2000 cd's and while they're good they're not what i want to hear on her first live cd. where's exile? or hey babe? i'll still get this, but juliana isn't batting well right now. her last one was only ok and this one looks to be the same. after exile, her masterpiece, it seems she has dried up. come on juliana. you can do better. i know it. some girls' crushing love is really good. bring it home again.

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.
Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.
With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.
Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.
Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night.

I've got to keep it exciting
Make it attractive
Keep it alive
Keep you coming back
I'm always so frightened you'll see through my act
When the fire is out and I've given up
You come running out, and you build it up
You tell me good love never dies
It only hurts when we burn our eyes
From staring too long at the sun
You gotta throw your hands up
And let the night come

I'd say friend of Mine is gorgeous too, but her most beautiful song is "Strange Loop," it exudes adamant freedom and desperation simuetaneously.
"I always wanted you, I only wanted more than I knew..."
her most gorgeous line.

You guys are, like, both totally wrong. Her best line ever is in Favorite when she sings "Oh baby know what your like? You're like my favorite underwear". that song ROX!!!! It just speaks to me in ways that her earlier songs don't (cuz the new Liz is so much cooler than the Old Liz).

Stuff myself into your reason
I lie real close and cling
I'd get small I'd even crawl
For the madness you would bring
Find comfort in your tangled words
I'd be sharper than your grief
I'd gather up into the dust of all your fears
And live in the corners of what you believe
I'd conjure up a second heart
To house your sweet pain
I'd love you so hard other folks
Won't have to strain to hear
I'd become your shadow
And haunt for just a taste of your want
This sickness is a mutant bliss
It's a slow steady shrinking into thinking
I'd evaporate without your hate
To remind me I'm still here
I'd conjure up a second heart
To house your sweet pain
I'd love you so hard other folks
Won't have to strain to hear
I'd become your shadow
And haunt for just a taste of your want

I would love you
