As we know the Sugarcubes are reuiniting for a one night stint to promote Icelandic music.
No one here will be going, but here comes the interesting part.

The Sugarcubes will release an EP of 'Birthday' due to their 20th anniversary this year exclusively and limited at their live gig in Reykjavík, Iceland on November 17th. The price will be $20; all profits will go to Smekkleysa sm.

The EP's tracklist includes four previously unreleased versions and three new mixes by Einar Örn, Mugison and Björk herself:

2: ammæli 12''
3: jim & william reid christmas eve
4: jim & william reid christmas day
5: jim & william reid christmas present
6: extended 12''
7: ghostigital '06 remix
8: justin robertson 12" mix
9: tommy d dub mix
10: original 7"
11: tommy d 12" mix
12: justin robertson dub
13: demo
14: sykurmolarnir mix
15: instrumental 12''

The artwork is made by Mecompany and is a new version of their old vinyl artwork from 1988.

This info is just stuff I found on the Bjork 4um, and there arent any sources or anything, so it could be a fake, but it would be exciting to see, and better to have.

And on another note:
Rumours are that there will be a future release of the EP with the Sugarcubes Box Set (simply called 'Sugarcube') announced by One Little Indian for late 2007. But till then this release is strictly limited and a very rare collectors item.

I've got a One Little Indian video compilation that was released sometime during the Middle Ages smile.gif , but it's totally amazing. It has the original (ie: Icelandic) version of the Sugarcubes' Birthday on there. That version is so damn haunting it's scary.

You mean Amaeli?

Yes, It seems to have an even rawer, more carnal edge to it than Birthday does (if that is even possible.)

Ahhhh yes I do smile.gif Although I never knew that was the Icelandic name till just now... (plus my video just says 'Birthday' written on it, although it's obvious it's the Icelandic language version of the song!)

It's also got the videos for Motorcrash and Planet on there too... both equally beautiful (if different) videos.
Another old-school video I have is that for Regina... oh my god that cracks me up laughing every time I watch it!

Regina is one of my very favorites:

blowww into the chastity belt...
