I met her briefly last fall... She mostly ignored me... I didn't really know what to say, said something like thanks for coming to <my town>... she didn't really respond to it... She did however, take notice when i presented her with a sharpie to sign autographs with. it all went quite quickly.
Despite what I said, liz was not unfriendly or mean, she just seemed to be in a rush, but she was more than willing to sign two of my liner notes and take a picture
I did not ask her about the last two albums, because (1) i like the last two albums (2) it would be cruel to confront her with such a question, even if i didn't like the last two albums and (3) she was rushed, so I wouldn't have had time anyway.
Really the only reason I'm posting this is so I can relive that moment... I apologize for not contributing anything interesting...
That's why, in some ways, I almost hate meeting my idols-my friend who managed a record shop got us backstage for quite a few folk for awhile (long time ago now for the most part), and if they seem unfriendly, they usually don't mean to be that way-I think they usually pretty guarded and/or pretty tired. Now, I usually just send my stuff backstage to get autographs w/out bugging them & the people are usually always kind about it. We had a bad experience with the Pixies the last time when we had an All-Access pass-it was more the management than the group (I hope), but they refused to honor the pass or give my stuff to them to sign (which I've NEVER had happen to me with many people through the years). The show sucked, too, and even though I always will like them it left a bad taste in my mouth.
