veruca salt. one of the best bands ever! NEW ALBUM VSIV coming out sep 12 on Sympathy for the Record Inudstry. appreciate now.
QuieroPhair
fucking shit.

it isn't even veruca salt anymore. It's Louise Post and her goons.

RIP The REAL veruca salt from American Thighs and Eight Arms to Hold You
makesmewanto
new record? post link!

'all hail' veruca salt, definatley one of the best bands. i was actually just listening to the Blow It Our Your Ass EP, and I really do miss Nina Gordon in VS. Nina on her own is just *yawn* but maybe her new CD wont be so poppy/gloss.

the last album 'resolver' was quite good but cant touch american thighs or their best, eight arms.
QuieroPhair
pfff. Eight Arms is as glossy as Nina's solo. American Thighs is their best.
makesmewanto
eight arms is glossy but not in an overt top 40 mainstream way like nina's solo. the harmonies on that album are just amazing.

anywho i still cant believe steve albini produced the 'Blow it our your ass' EP where they tried quite hard to be the Breeders.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
Veruca Salt skyrocketed to fame in 1994 with the alternative radio mega-hit "Seether" off their Minty Fresh debut album "American Thighs," and followed with an equally successful sophomore effort, 1997's "8 Arms to Hold You." After co-founder Nina Gordon left to pursue a solo career, lead singer/guitarist Louise Post reformed the band with guitarist Stephen Fitzpatrick and drummer Kellii Scott, to produce 2000's critically acclaimed "Resolver," described by Chicago Sun Times' Jim DeRogatis as "the best album to be released under the band's Willy Wonka inspired moniker, as well as one of the strongest albums of the year ... a galvanizing rock 'n' roll statement in a pop-dominated time."

The success of Veruca Salt's 2005 EP "Lords of Sounds and Lesser Things" and its accompanying US tour secured the band a record deal with indie label powerhouse, Sympathy for the Record Industry. Now sixyears after Resolver, Post and Fitzpatrick have been joined by bassist Nicole Fiorentino (Radio Vago), and rejoined by drummer Kellii Scott (Failure, Blinker the Star, Enemy), to create the fourth and latest full length Veruca Salt album, "VS4," which is slated for release in September 2006. Produced by Rae DiLeo (Filter, Army of Anyone), "VS4" features the classic heavy guitar thunder, pop sensibility, and soul-wrenching lyrics of previous Veruca Salt efforts, coupled with the stirring musical maturation of Louise Post and Co. Songs written and performed live to worldwide acclaim over the past six years (such as "Blissful Queen," "Save You," and "The Sun") have been combined with powerful new material, and the resulting effort promises to be the greatest Veruca Salt album to date.

Where's Blair? He loves the salt.
makesmewanto
everyone go check out the new songs on www.myspace.com/verucasalt.

"sick as your secrets" really feels like Nina Gordon era Veruca, which is obviously a VERY good thing.

and the new bassist, Nicole sounds great on vocals.

myspace sucks for dial up. sh-t.

anyone know what happened between nina and louise? really. i know that they're still writing songs about each other. and that used to know her is about nina. and black and blonde is about louise. and disconnected is about louise's break up with dave grohl. and nina has just said this about the song, bones and a name.

QUOTE
The “Bones and a Name” part came from my feelings when I moved out [to Los Angeles,] that late-night existential, “What are we? What are we here for?” That intense, lonely feeling, like what is my purpose here? In the end, that’s all that we are — a pile of calcified whatever. But the song is actually about what happened with Louise and Dave Grohl [Writer’s Note: the two dated and the breakup inspired Post to write the 2000 album Resolver under the Veruca Salt moniker.] I was [once] driving up into the hills, and I saw Dave in a car right next to me. We looked at each other and then both looked away. Yeah, sure, it’d be fun to hang out with [Dave] and talk to [him] again but he really destroyed my best friend.

i wonder if anyone knows what happened between nina and louise, now that we know what happened between louise and dave.

hahah gossip.

I LOVE the new Album! Nicole is a great additon to the band! her backing vocals are really sweet.
I Like Nina but i prefer the new VS.
QuieroPhair
Veruca Salt is dead.

All thats left is Louise post and her powertripping bile ridden excuse for a band.
fucked up blair23
wow, harsh. i actually wanna hear the new album. because some songs in it are good, in demos, like blissful queen and fragile.

i prefer nina though over louise's band. i won't even call it veruca salt anymore.
makesmewanto
i wish louise wouldn't call the band Veruca Salt because the new album...doesn't sound like them neither did Resolver.

But still the new album is quite good.

yea, it is my sole complaint. I really wish she'd change the name.

What should we call it? the Louise Power Hour?
fucked up blair23
she still sings seether as well. which is moronic. not the song but the situation.

anyway, so weird sucks. seriously, worst song ever.

looking forward to hearing blissful queen!!!
QuieroPhair
I heard she still does Volcano Girls.

Cunt.
fucked up blair23
haha. you're so hostile.
i guess, it's okay in a way. i know if i see them perform, i'd like to hear them do the song that made me fall in love with them. i get the inclination.

anyway, heard some snippets of IV and let's just say resolver is miles better. louise's voice grates on me when she's trying to be snarly. what happened to her voice?? she used to have this kittenish thing going but it's so screechy now. wtf.
makesmewanto
i think she's trying to sound like courtney love. no really.

the new CD has some almost metal material, very heavy sludgey guitars and alot of screaming!

Thats why I Love it!

Louise said she only played Volcano Girls/Seether in the past because their old record label Beyond kept pushing that they played the hits. and the fact that the people coming to the shows wanted to hear them. she said she hates playing them. but i guess you have no choice if your going to keep the name, you have to play the back catalogue.
makesmewanto
I agree. I think the new sound is good...but really she should have changed the name. Nina was just as important as Louise, and the breaking of the two was the end of Veruca Salt.

But that really is miniscule in the big picture..guitars sound great and I'm glad to see that Louise has found someone new in the bassist, Nicole to harmonize with.

Did I mention Salt Flat Epic might be the best song in the VS catalouge?

one courtney love is enough for the world.
we left yesterday
and even that's one too mnay.

okay, i've decided to like IV, the good outweighs the bad. the first five or so songs are painful to listen to. her voice is screechy and the arena rock tunes are not suited to her tiny voice. it's best when she plays the murderville girl (like she did in all hail me) or when she gets all sullen and sad (like she does in the last songs). it doesn't matter if the melodies are catchy when the voice is so annoying. she redeems herself with damage done, which among the speedier songs is a standout. the sadder, more emotional songs are actually good.

salt flat epic is so about nina and her. it's a great song. and i love the cello parts. also, the sun and save you are great but older songs.

anyway, it's good.
