I wanted to put this out there for comments because it seems like too much of a coincidence. Four years ago, I hired two budding musician brothers by the name of Chris and Jeremy Engle who called themselves Dripping Rictus and had a self-produced CD called Corporeal Addiction. Their music can best be described as instrumental german/industrial and best works as background music to your Holloween parties. I remember they played gigs at Gunther Murphy's in Chicago. We parted ways after about a year. Jeremy had an uncanny knack to be able to say, by my estimate, three things at the same time. I chalked that up to his being wasted most of the time. When Liz came out with JE on comeandgetit, I immediately thought it was about the Jeremy Engle I knew briefly.

Jeremy Engle is a real guy. A guy she had a crush on in high school.
While she was recording it, she had to phone him up to ask his permission. Which she said was well embarrassing.
She didn’t know him much, all the stuff about his family etc in the song. Is all made up. Its just what she imagined.

Does this song remind anyone else of "Elenor Rigby"? I know Liz has other Beatles "influences" in her songs. For some reason when I listened to JE the other day it kind of reminded me of that song.

it doesn't remind me of eleanor rigby, however, i remember when reading on the road i noticed that one of the characters in the story seemed very similar to jeremy engle. i also came across a line in the book that seemed to be taken almost verbatim and used in the song. i wish i could remember what it was...
i think the character may have been dean moriarty, though.
