I love the cranberries forever for linger. but bar their first album, they're incredibly inconsistent.

that is strange. i find that highly odd. i bought two copies of blind within the last 5 years, both new, and they both had blind on it. and one that i bought was done her recently. tower records is showing wild horses as being on there. highly odd.
LightYears
you're both in different countries?

The Organ - Grab that Gun

this is one of the best things i've heard in a while. comparisons to the smiths are very logical. there's a similar edge to the guitars and an offbeat affectation to the vocals (think debbie harry, only more involved in the proceedings). the lyrics are brooding and there's a general sense of displacement in the songs. it makes this debut startlingly familiar, refreshingly catchy and eventually haunting.

Absolutely love this album!!! one of my fave tori albums.

I put the hood right back where, you can taste heaven perfectly
LightYears
Scarlet's walk is possibly my favourite Tori album (I mean, 18 amazing songs!) but it varies a lot.

I just love it so much, I'm rarely able to cut up the album order, I have to listen to all 18 tracks together, in order, all of every song.

Scarlet's Walk.

Not my favourite. Probably my least favourite.

And now I am so wierd around it. After the whole thing you noticed LY, with the endings.
LightYears
Thing is, you know the Scarlet's Hidden Treasures? all those songs don't have that ending at all, they all have beautifully different endings.

Scarlet's Walk feels like a whole healing process to me smile.gif
QuieroPhair
Thats true, but those aren't part of the album...
LightYears
But they were all written together, and they're all either parts of the journey, or the belly of other album songs. Like "Seaside" to "Pancake".

Sufjan Stevens- Seven Swans

I love "This Way", it's my favourite Jewel album. It's such an amazing record full of strong melodies, moody chords and interesting lyrics. (Though "Pieces of You" is probably her strongest-written album, the music of "This Way" is more engaging, ensnaring and magical). Beautiful record.

loquat - before the momentum ep

i'm a sucker for pretty female voices and the vocalist for loquat, kylee swenson, has a nice little girl lilt when she sings and she's always backed up by dubs of her own voice and a guy singing. it doesn't hurt that the melodies are so gentle and heavenly. their music has a slight sixties sounding swing (especially in "friends without thumbs"). "swingset chain" is a lovely, catchy piece of lounge pop and "internal crash" is a standout, with its tremendously affecting melody and vocal performance by swenson. their cover of the smiths classic, "there is a light that never goes out" is quite accomplished too. the melancholy suits them well.

okay, i finally got into checking out martha wainwright and was just blown away. i've always liked her song, bmfa and i didn't know she could be better than that sharp slice of honesty. her voice is very powerful, raspy but pristine and her words are very beautiful. there's nothing pretentious about her. how lys came into that conclusion is beyond me and how he can favor something fluffy like jewel over her is just astonishingly ridiculous. sorry, lys but it is.

this is a simply breathtaking piece of singer songwriter work. martha possesses quite a voice. its raspy quality is perfectly suited to her words. more often than not, she sings of honest stuff, whether it's low self esteem, disappointment, love and love (and love). this is material that can hook you with one spin. one thing is for sure, martha is talented. anyone who can sing such a tough, sharp song like "b.m.f.a." and grasp the gentle core of "whither must i wonder" is to be recommended.

lys, honey. you need a reality check.
Flower1983
Still on a Comeandgetit high, but I've also been listening to the Indigo Girls - "Swamp Ophelia". Mostly cause I promised my mom I'd sing the harmony to "Power of Two" at her wedding with my sister. Lets all say it together... awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww .. rolleyes.gif lol

Personally, I find naming a song on your debut "Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole" pretentious. And it is. It just screams for attention. If I came online and was like "Hey everyone, last night I wrote a song called Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole," you would all label that an act of pretension.

Also, I find her so overbearing. I was watching some live videos and I just can't stand her. I like Rufus, and I can't believe they're related to be honest.

And why is it that with you, FUB, it always come down to throwing one artist in over another?
You may find Jewel fluffy and dislike her, but personally I like her. She has the chemistry I want. She's singing about things that I want to listen to in a way I like.

I hate it when you do this. It's so useless throwing in one artist over another, because the only other person who jumps for it, FUB, is WeLeftYesterday and you're always pandering to him, in these little speeches. And you know regardless of what I write here, he'll paste it and be like "yeah yeah Martha is so blahblahblah, Jewel is so terrible, blah blah blah *something about college rock or some other thing*" and that's probably the only reason you do it.

*sigh*

So whatever, Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole.
Oh look at it go.
