Hello I've just joined and I noticed there is someone out there who loves Gemma Hayes, her newest CD rocks so bad. I love it. I'm a UK fan.
But my album of the day is.....

I'm so so so so in love with this right now.

But today it's.....
"Public Record" - Rachael Sage
And Maria Taylor's album is so pretty. Far superior to Orenda Fink's.

I love Charlotte Martin!
And I love love love On Your Shore.
And I'm so excited for her next one, because "Veins" was such an amazing ep.
Today it's actually "On Your Shore" again. I woke up and just put it on, and lay in the blue of my room.
I love that album so much.

i'm currently listening to this and i don't remember this album being this dreamy. it's so spacey and yet, grounded to real emotions.

It's probably my second favourite Heather Nova album.
I like it's underwater atmosphere. It's like the raging force of emotions are colliding, but under the soft scatter of waves, in a dense atmosphere.
I want to listen to it now, but right now I am listening to;
Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls.

what's your favorite song in it? most people say "feed the tree", which is the obvious choice because it was a hit and they were nominated for a grammy for it. but i'm rather fond of the bite sized song pieces, the three short songs which i think are connected in some way. "someone to die for", "witch" and "star".

Yeah i know they had that popularity for "feed the tree", but my faves are "someone to die for" also. ANd I LOVE "Angel". its an awesome album im glad i found it, correct me if im wrong but isnt tanya also or USE to be in "The breeders" and "The throwing muses"?

yes, she co founded throwing muses with half sister, kristin hersh but left soon after the lp, the real ramona.
she also co founded the breeders with kim deal, as an outlet for their musical artistry and a sideline while not focusing on their main bands at the time (throwing muses and for deal, the pixies). but tanya left the breeders after the debut album. kim's twin sister, kelley, replaced her.

retsin - cabin in the woods
the cascading, decidedly girlish vocals and harmonies are so appealing and the fact that the sparse instrumentation give them the opportunity to take center stage just hits the right spot in my ears. and the melodies are very eerie. song after song, they manage to be offbeat and genuinely beautiful.
standouts:
carnival
bright sunshine
sepia shade

i had a suzanne vega binge. i listened to all her albums. my new favorite is nine objects of desire, for the songs "headshots", "caramel", "no cheap thrill"... she's really amazing.
and belly had some moderate success with their first album for the song "feed the trees" but their second album was not received well and then tanya donelly went solo.
