Hello I've just joined and I noticed there is someone out there who loves Gemma Hayes, her newest CD rocks so bad. I love it. I'm a UK fan.
But my album of the day is.....

Charlotte Martin - On your shore.

I'm so so so so in love with this right now.

I was alternating between Charlotte, Heather and Tori all day.

I like Charlotte Martin too, I can't really get into "On Your Shore" yet though.

But today it's.....
"Public Record" - Rachael Sage

And Maria Taylor's album is so pretty. Far superior to Orenda Fink's.

I love Charlotte Martin!
And I love love love On Your Shore.

And I'm so excited for her next one, because "Veins" was such an amazing ep.

Today it's actually "On Your Shore" again. I woke up and just put it on, and lay in the blue of my room.
I love that album so much.

i'm currently listening to this and i don't remember this album being this dreamy. it's so spacey and yet, grounded to real emotions.
LightYears
It's probably my second favourite Heather Nova album.

I like it's underwater atmosphere. It's like the raging force of emotions are colliding, but under the soft scatter of waves, in a dense atmosphere.

I want to listen to it now, but right now I am listening to;

Tori Amos - Strange Little Girls.
fucked up blair23
this whole dream pop (pop is not a bad word, lys!!! cocteau twins is dream pop) side to her music makes me want to get more of her stuff. i have oyster only and this in cd-r.

yeah, glow stars is so oceanic.

Annie: Anniemal

Keep it comin' baby, can you dig it?
thought I had to look all over for it
it's not easy but I have to admit
come on baby you're my greatest hit

I LOVE IT!!!. i just recently bought it at the music store for like 3 dollars!!. but its REALLY worth it.....
fucked up blair23
what's your favorite song in it? most people say "feed the tree", which is the obvious choice because it was a hit and they were nominated for a grammy for it. but i'm rather fond of the bite sized song pieces, the three short songs which i think are connected in some way. "someone to die for", "witch" and "star".

Yeah i know they had that popularity for "feed the tree", but my faves are "someone to die for" also. ANd I LOVE "Angel". its an awesome album im glad i found it, correct me if im wrong but isnt tanya also or USE to be in "The breeders" and "The throwing muses"?
fucked up blair23
yes, she co founded throwing muses with half sister, kristin hersh but left soon after the lp, the real ramona.
she also co founded the breeders with kim deal, as an outlet for their musical artistry and a sideline while not focusing on their main bands at the time (throwing muses and for deal, the pixies). but tanya left the breeders after the debut album. kim's twin sister, kelley, replaced her.

retsin - cabin in the woods
the cascading, decidedly girlish vocals and harmonies are so appealing and the fact that the sparse instrumentation give them the opportunity to take center stage just hits the right spot in my ears. and the melodies are very eerie. song after song, they manage to be offbeat and genuinely beautiful.

standouts:
carnival
bright sunshine
sepia shade
Flower1983
Today's its Metric's "Grow Up And Blow Away". Fuck, I love that song Parkdale.
fucked up blair23
i love metric. maybe i should listen to all their three records again. i'm forgetting some of their songs now.

suzanne vega - days of open hand
a very underrated work by suzanne vega. it's certainly as good as solitude standing. "book of dreams" is a very catchy folk pop song.

love that album. great piece of music. rusted pipe is amazing. by the way did belly really have success. i know that were college rock darlings, but never went far beyond that. at least to my understanding.
fucked up blair23
i had a suzanne vega binge. i listened to all her albums. my new favorite is nine objects of desire, for the songs "headshots", "caramel", "no cheap thrill"... she's really amazing.

and belly had some moderate success with their first album for the song "feed the trees" but their second album was not received well and then tanya donelly went solo.
LightYears
Tori Amos - The Beekeeper.
pearlyprincess
"Revelling" Ani DiFranco

I like belly too. I agree, it's really atmospheric and almost creepy. I am glad I discovered them going through my teenage angst stage, I could have gone in such a bad direction otherwise!!! tongue.gif
