I was born in St. John's, too many years ago, to an American serviceman and a native mom who grew up in Torbay, but I left at age six months. Haven't been back for so long that I can barely remember it. I love online sites about the place, especially the photos of fishing villages and the seacoast. I even indulge a nostalgic affection for the band Great Big Sea. To me Newfoundland is a place of fantasy. In a perfect world Liz would go there just to play for you.

...Too bad we don't live in a perfect world! HOLY CRAP!!! I think I'd have a stroke if I learned Liz was commin' to Newfoundland (shock and awe). Oh well, just keep on dreamin' there buddy... you just keep on dreamin'...
I find it fascinating to find out you were originally from here. It's funny, but we Newfs are spread all over the friggin' planet. You could find us anywhere... It's part of the culture, I guess. All the "opportunities" out there in life are on the mainland, so most people leave (myself included). I moved to Halifax for a few years to study Massage Therapy (something you couldn't do here, at the time), but I moved back here in 2003 for various reasons. I'd love to do more traveling though. It's just so bloody expensive!
...Sometimes I hate money.
...Of course, I'd probably feel differently if I had some.
