Hey shine is actually called Stars and planets. I was also wondering if you remember us crazy Canadians who were also getting autographs. She was so awesome to be in the same room as not to mention how she posed for pictures and all.

Having just listened to the new album all the way through several times, I'm still sad I had to miss Liz's Twin Cities show (since the venue is one of my favorites) but being out of town made it literally impossible. That said, minus the new songs (obviously) I liked her playlist better at last year's show here. And this being my first post here, I might as well spill some more....

All you whiners need to just grow up and get over yourselves. Liz isn't your personal music slave. I discovered her allegedly "past her prime" but still couldn't be more thrilled about 75% of her stuff, if not more. Maybe being light-years too old (compared to her target audience) I'm removed just enough to be able to listen to what she has to say and how, from a far less biased perspective.

It's almost unfortunate that an oddball song like "SuperNova" has colored nearly every comment on her "worthiness" ever since. Yeah, it was good, and edgy at the time of it's release, but for dog's sake, can't we let her do what she's inspired to do and either like it or not? If you don't like it; don't listen. But the whining is just pathetic. It only serves to make my task of exposing jaded little pricks and clueless musical blondes to Liz's music that much more difficult!

So, she isn't perfect in every way? Your loss, but my gain. Keep on doing what you are, Liz! Even though I obviously doubt you're intentionally addressing my generation, I "hear" you just fine, and am grateful that you continue to follow your personal musical instincts.
Cherub's Ass
See the thing is, on her new album she doesn't have anything really to say that is personal or has to do with her life really. Almost anyone could sing the lyrics from 'Somebody's Miracle' and have it be theirs. Supernova, though not one of her VERY best, is superior to any track found on Somebody's Miracle, in my opinion. I'd say it's much worthier than hearing her wail "Do you really know me at all? Are you really gonna be that real to me?" or similar schlock.

Really? Have you listened to Table for One? I would say that that is one of the most intensely personal songs she's ever written. On that same note, what is so personal about Supernova (I know that you didn't bring up the example of Supernova, I'm just using it to further the discussion)? It's a good song, don't get me wrong, but it seems far less personal to me than Table for One.

I'm not trying to negate your opinion. I mean, you know how I feel about her old stuff compared to her new. I agree that a lot of the songs on her last album (last 2 actually) haven't been that personal. But there have been a few, and those few songs, I think, are definitely worth remembering.

Little Digger is a very personal song. I love Liz's old stuff the most, but when I hear Little digger it gives me chills.

Yeah, I agree, Little Digger is a very personal (and also, in my opinion) a very good song. Her old stuff is definitely better, but she has some good new stuff, too. I think it's unfair to completely write off her last 2 albums as 'crap' when there are some really good songs on both of them.
Predatory Instinct
I think you could throw in Leap Of Innocence, Got My Own Thing, and Why I Lie as songs that could definately be considered VERY personal. Three very good tunes off of the so-called CRAPPY "Somebody's Miracle". IMO, not NEARLY as crappy an album as many "fans" of Liz's proclaim it is.
