I wanted a Madonna thread. I’m not sure if anyone else here is a fan so I guess this thread will inform me. Is anyone else totally excited about Hard Candy? I can’t stop playing 4 minutes. I don’t get the hype around Miles Away yet how can people tell if it’s any good with those French people talking all the way through it.

^VD-I have totally mixed feelings about Little Ms. M (as Courtney Wuv calls her)...
Since I can say that I have totally lived through every phase of that woman's career, I'll just give U brief skinny...
When the first album with "Borderline" & "Lucky Star" came out, I just loved her!! She was so urban & had a vibe unlike anybody else. And those videos are still so cool.
I actually did like the "Like A Virgin" album, but the FRENZY about her began to get to me-she seemed overexposed for the type of talent she possessed.
I actually grew to HATE her during the next several periods of her career & as I got more punk & gothy, I really viewed her as just pure evil. Right of me? Probably not, but I still don't really care for her songs of that period.
In my 20's I mellowed a little-I'm actually very fond of "Erotica" (though that book was stupid, it was marketing genius).
Unlike so many, I wasn't as crazy about "Ray of Light" or "Music".
I actually thought she was OK in "Evita," but I hate the style/feel of the film-I love that musical too much.
I did actually really like her last album-her schmoozing of folk like Britney & Justin does bug me, but, I guess when you are still trying to be relevant to the young...I don't know.
I actually have much more respect for Madonna now than I did when she was at the height of her career. I have to admit that, in looking back, she handled herself & career so much more professionally than the young, trashy trainwrecks of the moment. I also would rather listen to Madonna any day over the horrors unleashed by Mariah Scary or Witless Houston.

I can actually understand why someone who has lived through her career may not like her. Anything that’s been around 25 years and majorly hyped would be very annoying lol.

Oh where do I begin with Madge?
More to come when I have time to try and explain it all. Kinda cool though - really the only artist that was making music in my youth and still churning it out. Well, artists that are radio friendly anyway.

Thank fuck allmusic.com found their way out of Madonna's arse. The verdict's in M-Dolla - Hard Candy is SHIT. Except Miles Away - melts my heart everytime.

I find it quite amusing that Mo decided her first single should be a song dominated by another performer. 4 Minutes is totally Justins song.

hmmmm... well whatever. it makes me puke. not dance. that isn't dance music. watch some dancing shows like dancing with the stars for some real dance music.
"She saw the lights, she saw the pale English face
Some strange machines repeating beats and thumping bass
Visions of pills that put you in a loving trance
That make it possible for all white boys to dance"
