Britney Spears' 16-Year-Old Sister Pregnant
Britney Spears' teenage sister Jamie-Lynn Spears is pregnant with her first child. Bosses at children's TV network Nickelodeon, where the 16-year-old fronts hit show Zoey 101, have confirmed the baby news. In a statement given to Wenn, a spokesman for the TV network said, "We respect Jamie Lynn's decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn's well being." Reports suggest the father is student Casey Aldridge, who Spears allegedly dumped this summer. Jamie-Lynn has told OK! magazine she intends to keep the baby.

You beat me to it, CC-I was going to add a blurb about this whole fiasco...
What was even WORSE was that I was subjected to that awful, right wing, has-been Lisa Whelchel (BLAIR from "The Facts of Life," complete with this new hairdo from hell) first thing in the morning on GMA while I was trying to eat my breakfast. She was going on & on about how she applauded that Spears girl for "owning up to the responsibilty" and doing the "correct, Christian" thing in not having an abortion.

Kate - what was wrong wih Lisa stating that it was a good thing that Jamie Lynn didn't abort?
A huge rpoblme with society today is that in a lot of situations the easy way out (read: no consequences) is taken instead of being strong and trying to do what is right for someone else and not thinking of yourself.

It's a decision that is up to the individual, Phreak-it's up to her...BUT, to bring another child into the lunacy that is that family...I'm sorry-I think that's truly poor judgement. I agree with you Jeff. She does sound like a "conservative Christian nitwit." I hate those kind of people (and I'm even a Christian), I once told my mom that if I weren't a Christian, I would probably hate Christians like a lot of non-Christians do. I just can't stand the fanatical Christians that are TV and the radio. They aren't representative of most Christians, but they're the ones every one sees; always judging people and condemning them to hell. I always have to wonder if they have forgotten "let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Hmm...I doubt they ever heard it in the first place...they're all just in it for the money anyways.
I had Christianity's stance on anything having to do with sex. It's all so archaic and made out to be so sinful (not to mention the fact that in Catholism, any type of birth control is considered a sin.
...And don't
even get me started on abortion...I'm about as radically pro-choice as they come. I think the situation with Jamie Lynn is pretty much what abortions were created for. Like she's gonna be a good parent...look at Britney's kids....Children deserve a loving home and if the biological parents are either unable or unwilling to give the child a good home, well then...maybe they're better off not having children at all.

< heehee... I find the phrase "radically pro-choice" funny. Most Pro Choice-ers are painted as being pretty much quiet folk. I think.
I used to think that the whole abortion was super easy.. your body, your choice. Then I turned 24, and getting knocked up (even though it didn't happen to me, or even anyone I knew, but I just started thinking about it more) became more of an issue. It becomes less acceptable to just get rid of a pregnancy because "you're not ready" the older you get. Or if you're in a committed relationship but dont know if your partner is "the one". Where are the Concerned Children's Advertising about those situations?
"This is Sally. She's 24, knocked up, in a so-so monogamous relationship that could end in the next year or so, has 50,000 in student debt, and has no clue what to do. Please give her a clear cut answer."
I always thought of myself as pro choice too, but it's just not that easy anymore. In fact.. I feel like the people who have a strong stance either way seem to have it easier. If you 100% (dis)agree with abortion, then your decisions' at least made for you.

It's not even funny (or whatever it was) anymore. I truly feel bad for her. Mental illness is nothing to mess around with. Add that to the bizarro childhood she had with such sudden fame and having two kids so close together (I guess they even have a pill to prevent that because it is so hard on the body and hormones). I listened to Blackout agaiin today and must say that if things would have been different, that may have put her back on top. Hopefully with this forced 72 hour exam something good comes from it. She is loaded so she should just concentrate on getting well and when she is ready and healthy then make a comeback.

Report: Bjork Attacks Photographer
Sunday, January 13, 2008
(01-13) 16:10 PST WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) --
Icelandic singer Bjork attacked a newspaper photographer shortly after she arrived at New Zealand's Auckland International Airport on Sunday, local media reported.
Bjork, who is in the northern city of Auckland to perform at the Big Day Out concert on Friday, tore "New Zealand Herald" photographer Glenn Jeffrey's shirt after he photographed her arriving at the airport early Sunday, he told news agency New Zealand Press Association according to a report on Monday.
Jeffrey, a news photographer for 25 years, said Bjork was accompanied by a man who asked him not take photos.
"I took a couple of pictures ... and as I turned and walked away she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy (T-shirt) and tore it," he told the agency.
"As she did this, she fell over, she fell to the ground," he said. "At no stage did I touch her or speak with her."
Bjork said nothing throughout the incident but her male companion was saying: "'B, don't do this, B, don't do this,'" Jeffrey said.
Jeffrey said he spoke with Auckland police about the incident later Sunday.
Bjork or a representative were not immediately available to comment on the report.

Mischa Barton: I'm Responsible for DUI
THURSDAY JANUARY 10, 2008 12:50 PM EST
By Nicholas White
Mischa Barton is speaking out for the first time since her DUI arrest last month.
"Obviously I'm 100 percent responsible for my actions in this case," Barton, 21, told Ryan Seacrest's L.A. radio show Thursday morning, about her DUI arrest. "I'm really disappointed in myself. I don't know what to say about it, except that I'm not perfect, and I just don't ever intend to do something this stupid again."
The former O.C. actress was arrested for DUI in L.A. early the morning of Dec. 27.
"I was out with some friends and actually hadn't been driving earlier in the night, but I wanted to get my car home." Barton explained. "I can't really get into specifics. We've got the case coming up, and I'm not supposed to say anything about what happened. I was pulled over."
Barton, who was also cited for not having a valid license when she was pulled over, added: "I didn't have a license. I grew up in New York, the land of people who don't have to drive. It's always been the toughest thing about living in L.A. for me. I usually try not to get behind the wheel."
Barton's next film, Assassination of a High School President, costarring Bruce Willis, premieres at the Sundance Film Festival later this month.

There is a tremendously creepy "20/20" about the whole thing, Flower-I wish I had a copy-if I did I would gladly share it with you. I think Diane Sawyer even does the story, but it's been couple years since I saw it. The guy was just totally unbalanced & he kept video diaries of himself & his obsession with her-this was during the period when she was dating Tricky, I think. When he realized the object of his obsession would never be his "own"," he decided he would send her a "gift"-it was this "book" that shot out acid when it was opened-it would have killed Bjork or her staff or whoever opened her fan mail for her. Then he videotaped his own suicide right after he sent the package. It was like "Taxi Driver"-he shaved his head into a mohawk & painted himself up beofre he shot himself (I think he shot himself if I remember). I forget if his landlord or family member saw the tape he left & notified authorites that the package was in the mail-due to the time it takes to get from the States to Britain they were able to pull the package. They showed the Brit Press asking Bjork about all of it outside her apartment & she was just horrified.
It sounds like fiction, but it just blew me away-it was so creepy..If I ever get a hold of that episode, i will let U know, Flower.

The 25-year-old actor was found dead at his Los Angeles home this morning. The cause of death has not been determined, however, Renfro had a history of drug abuse.
Sources tell us Renfro, who had starring roles in "The Client" and "Apt Pupil" had been working valiantly to stay clean, especially since this summer. Renfro had been convicted of several drug offenses, including attempted heroin possession.
Renfro had been filming a movie with Winona Ryder and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie, "The Informers," just wrapped.
Renfro has had a rough time personally since moving from Tennessee to Los Angeles. His parents split, and we're told he did not have real guidance from adults as he tried navigating the treacherous movie industry.
